Merino wool is considered one of the most expensive types of wool. It is thinner than the wool of other breeds of sheep. Endowed with a unique degree of softness and elasticity, as it is 3 times softer than natural silk and 5 times more elastic than cotton. To make yarn, merino wool is sheared only from the withers. It is in the withers that sheep have a special fine wool less than 23 microns thick.
Merino wool is probably the only natural material that still cannot be recreated using synthetic materials.
Fantastic properties of merino wool:
- High healing properties. Alleviates and soothes acute pains, treats arthritis, rheumatism, sciatica, helps with fractures, healing patients with bedsores, and also promotes rapid recovery from viral infections that often occur in the autumn-winter period.
- Antibacterial properties. Creatine, which is contained in merino wool, is an unfavorable environment for the development of bacteria and microscopic insects. In addition, a water repellent is formed on the surface of each fiber, which repels insect pests.
- Hypoallergenicity. Merino wool is not allergenic and contains 8-10% lanolin. Dissolving at a temperature of 35-37 ºС, lanolin penetrates through the skin and has a beneficial effect on the joints, muscles, spine and respiratory system, as well as stimulates blood circulation.
- Excellent calming effect. Products made of soft merino wool lull you to sleep better than any sleep aid.
- Excellent thermal insulation.
- Excellent moisture absorption. Merino wool is hygroscopic, that is, it can absorb up to 33% of moisture from its own weight. Pillows, blankets, mattresses and any other products made of merino wool always remain dry.
- Reliable protection against unpleasant odors.
- Unique self-cleaning effect. From time to time, merino products just need to be aired in humid weather.
- Electrostatic properties.
- Neutralization of poisonous substances.
Soft, airy, warm, of extraordinary beauty, merino wool has no equal in the world of natural materials.
